Our very own Hackett is mentioned in an article by Susan Glazer of The Plain Dealer, “In Marietta, Ohio, history and scenery merge.”

Ms. Glazer mentions The Galley and The Hackett – actually spent the night with us! – and the storied history of our building, as well the wonderfully rich history of Marietta itself.

The Confluence Room at The Hackett

What this really points to is the rise of the “staycation” – where instead of the typical long road trip to the beach, national park, or other far-off attraction, folks are trying to stay close to home when they have vacation time. This saves on travel expenses to be sure, and with the recent rise in gas prices, saving money is a must!

We have only been open a few short months, but we’re finding a mix of both business travelers and families taking advantage of The Hackett – not to mention more than a few Marietta and Parkersburg local folks checking out our spacious rooms and close at hand dining and entertainment options!

We’ve updated the look of the Riley Room in a big way… Originally this room had a black comforter, which we’ve replaced with what you see above.

The Confluence Room, named after the fact that Marietta, Ohio, itself sits at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers, is a common area, actually the first part of The Hackett you enter when arriving.

It boasts a full size refrigerator, sink, Keurig coffee and tea maker, and toaster – along with an assortment of complimentary breakfast items. Plus, the room has a full-size dinner table, if you choose to have dinner delivered straight from The Galley‘s kitchen, and don’t want to eat in your personal room.

The Confluence Room also has a full-size leather couch and ottoman, and a large flat screen TV – just in case the kids don’t want to watch the same thing you are in your room!

And of course, The Hackett’s completely free WiFi signal is available, if you want to check your email, Facebook page, or admit, your farm on Farmville – from the comfort of that leather couch!

Grasping the scissors are Audrey Moodie, General Manager of The Galley, and Rick Coley, Vice President of Promanco, the company responsible for renovations and construction of the newly finished Hackett.
